Tar`amrSettlement

New Amr, the Ruins of Kuras. Tar`amr is a city built by the remnants of the Amrian Empire. It was built from the ruins of Kuras long before the Kingdom of Mirin’s annex of the region. It has become home to those of the region who do not wish to partake in wonders of Sorit. Humans are the minority race here, being mostly populated by dragonborn, half-drow, and expelled goliaths, with gnomes making the majority. This city of refuge has become the proper trade center of Ruleun, in direct competition of Justifal.

There are considerable amounts of coin to be made in this city. Working for the local magistrates in researching new arrivals can fetch enough coin to live comfortably, though it is otherwise an unrewarding job that comes with the distrust of the populace. Many of the gnomes here are expats of Rultar, and new arrivals are quickly distrusted as spies. The gnomes do not necessarily want the war to continue, but there is a resolved effort to assist the Knights of Amr in their efforts here in hopes to end the conflict and one day earn a new home for themselves. In the meantime, their labors are spent making sure their exports are the most efficiently produced and shipped.

Goliaths expelled from their tribes came to work at the docks. Even now, many eventually become sailors, having their sense of pride quickly restored by the protection they offer at sea against Justifal pirates. Most earn quick advancement in the Tar`amr Merchant Navy. The Harbormaster is a goliath named Captain Mavis Sailsword Tarrahmer, and his duties beyond securing the harbor and its ships at sea include being the Captain of the Guard. He answers only to Commander Reyen Perri, who functions as the Adjunct Viceroy of Tar`amr, the city’s leader.

For a rare race, the dragonborn make up an impressive amount of the denizens of this city. Most of them openly display their copper dragon heritage and markings, though other dragonborn heritages can be found here. A large tribe of dragonborn made this city their home at the personal request of the former Amrian Empire. They were not required to settle indefinitely, yet they continue to feel beholden to their oaths as the Kingdom of Mirin continues to honor its efforts to regain the dragonborn tribes’ homelands from Justifal.

Most of the humans in Tar`amr are not from Ruleun. Those who are native to Tar`amr are generally of larger stature and often have distinct eye colors, with naturally bronzed skin, owing to their common dragonborn heritage. Whereas the people of the Northrealm Protectorate are only thought to be larger folk, the humans of Tar`amr are much stockier than average. Humans from this city and its surrounding area often have difficulty donning armors meant for other regions without considerable time and material spent on fitting. While the common human of Tarnti varies in heritages and appearance, a human from Tar`amr is widely considered distinctive, commonly recognized as draconic with their sharpened features and uncommon eye colors.
