The primary calendar for Senith tracks the moon Elara for its time-keeping. Originally calculated by Elvish astronomers to serve as a ritual guide, it centers on a secret rite performed every 400th cycle. While the purpose, or even existence, of the ritual is largely unknown to outsiders, most common Elven folk are at least vaguely aware of some important activity performed by druids of the moon.
The ritiual is essential to the elvish druids: the moon, Elara, is in a descending orbit. The ritual is performed to stabalize the moon and prevent its descent to Senith. The epoch of the calendar is set to the original performance of the ritual.
